MCHS Homecoming 2009

The theme of this year’s Midwest Central High School Homecoming is “MCHS  Through the Decades.”  Each class has twenty years as its focus:  freshmen: the 1940’s and 1950’s, sophomores: the 1960’s and 1970’s, juniors: the 1920’s and 1930’s, and seniors: the 1980’s and 1990’s. Homecoming activities will take place the week of January 20 to January 24.  During the lunch hours throughout the week, the classes will participate in a volleyball competition with the winning class challenging the faculty to a match on Friday.  Also, on Friday, January 23, the activities include competition in the following areas:  community service (food donations), hall decorations, lip sync, little red wagon contest, letter stuffing, felt banner construction, and cafeteria decorations for the dance.  Students will also compete in relays and tug of war. Each day of the week offers a different dress-up day for competition.  Dress-up days include the following: Tuesday:   clash day, Wednesday: pajama day, Thursday: dress as your decade day, and Friday:  class color day.  The freshmen have the color blue, the sophomores, red; the juniors, green; and the seniors, yellow. During the Friday assembly all winter activity members will be recognized. 
 The two culminating events are the homecoming dance and the game.  The homecoming dance will take place on Friday, January 23 in the high school cafeteria from 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.  High school students ONLY will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.  Cost for the dance is $4.00 per person if purchased during the lunch hours on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 – Thursday, January 22, 2009 and $4.50 if purchased at the door.  All out-of-school guests or out-of-district guests must be registered in the office by Thursday, January 22, 2009. The homecoming game will be Saturday, January 24 against Athens beginning at 6:00 P.M.  The Homecoming Court will be announced between games.
